Actor Johnny Depp is known for some outlandish statements, and yesterday he took a jab at politics. He was attending the Glastonbury Music Festival yesterday when he spoke on a panel about his 2004 movie, The Libertine.
Instead of focusing on just the movie, he decided to discuss some American politics:
Can we bring Trump here (to Glastonbury)? I think (Donald) Trump needs help. There are a lot of dark places he could go.
And he didn't stop there. Apparently, he spoke about when Lincoln was assassinated and wondered when last such an incident had occurred, and if it would happen again.
I’m not insinuating anything – by the way, this will be in the press and it will be horrible – but when was the last time an actor assassinated a president?
And if you think the crowd was shocked, on the contrary. He was met with a great cheer, like a crew of pirates who had just found a horde of treasure on a deserted island. Johnny went on to explain that he means no harm against Trump but is simply begging the question.
I want to clarify, I’m not an actor. I lie for a living; it’s been a while. Maybe it’s about time
Now Trump is not known for standing idle when someone prominent takes a jab at him. We wait to see if Davy Jones will attack Cpt. Jack Sparrow to reclaim his heart (reputation), or if he doesn't consider Johnny worth the meal.
